Needed Skills Set
Embedded Systems Engineer with advanced level Labview development experience, capable of C/C++ and Assembler programming. Embedded Systems Real Time Operating Systems knowledge, python programming, and Linux kernel/device drivers experience all a plus.
Labview experience to include development of complete Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems. Complete knowledge of Labview Data Structures, Logic Flow Constructs, Object Oriented programming and able to demonstrate proper design of mission critical systems. Peripheral device interfacing a must.
Embedded Systems experience to include C/C++ Object Oriented programming with emphasis on Class Inheritance. Linux device driver knowledge is a key plus.
Develop Bio Technology Instruments interfaced to Labview systems for rapid system prototyping and development support. Additional Labview systems are Manufacturing, Test, Maintenance, and Service. Embedded Systems projects include RTOS systems and Instrument Server/Control systems.
Labview systems include Data Management, Protocol Editor, Protocol Management, Experiment Management for Primary and Secondary Analysis, Data Visualization, Data Packager, User Interface, Image Processing Wrappers, Manufacturing, Test, Maintenance, Service, and Calibration Management Subsystems.
In addition to Labview, C/C++, assembler, and embedded systems development on various microprocessor platforms generally ARM and Intel 686. Platform OS development on Linux, Windows, and various RTOS (Integrity, QNX, etc).
Embedded Systems Instrument Server Upgrade, File System Interface, Manufacturing, Web Servers, and Test subsystems.
In addition individual will provide Source Control Management support, Build System Maintenance, and Creation of OS System Startup Scripts.
Develop latest technology Biotech Instrument Firmware.
Coding in C/C++, Python, and assembler.
Electronic schematic review.
Writing shell scripts.
Development of operating system device drivers linux and various RTOS.
Nature and Scope
Position exercises independent judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Performs duties independently with only general direction given.
Ability to understand importance of projects and technology assessment efforts toward Company’s objectives. Job encounters recurring work situations with frequent variations from the norm, involving a high degree of complexity. Works on extremely complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. Accuracy is required in performing all functions of this position. Mistakes in work could cause substantial delay in release of product.
Primarily office environment development space, requiring some lab time for instrument run time testing. No hazardous chemicals involved.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science or Engineering Electronics
5 years Embedded Systems Development
Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science degree.
Senior Level Labview Programming Experience.
Programming in C, C++, Python, Assembler, and shell scripts.
Embedded software development.
Demonstration of system and software best practices.
Proficiency with Linux GNU system compilers/development utilities and Microsoft tool-chains.
Experience with source control and configuration management systems.
Knowledge of Real-Time concepts.
Embedded Linux Kernel and Device Drivers development knowledge.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to understand Embedded operating systems
Excellent planning, time management, communication, decision-making, and organizational skills.
Ability to understand electronic schematics a plus.
